Heat Load Calculation for HVAC
Course modified date: 15 October 2024
In HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, the heat load represents the total amount of heat energy that needs to be removed from or added to a space to maintain the desired indoor temperature and air quality. Understanding the types of heat load is crucial because it influences the capacity and design of HVAC systems. Primarily, heat load is divided into two main categories: sensible heat load and latent heat load. Each of these plays a different role in the overall heat gain or loss within a building, and understanding their differences is fundamental in accurately calculating heat load.
